Wouldn’t it be nice to know how truly talented you are?

One of the great surprises to me as I began delivering the Foundations of Brilliance program in 2004 was that very, very few people understood what is a talent and how to find theirs; i.e., they had a difficult time identifying their talents. Yet, one for one, as they gained an understanding of how to identify their talents, they were both surprised and even relieved to know how talented they were.

The definition of talent that we use is: the natural ability to do things well that can be developed into a greater skill. What we do easily and naturally are so often overlooked as a talent.

I worked with one very smart 17-year old, and when I asked him what his talents are he commented, “I don’t have any!” (This is very typical of the response I get.) I asked him if he is good at anything, and he said, “Playing video games, but I have no talents.”

I then asked him a very simple question. He thought for a moment and said, “I understand the game so well, I can follow what is happening and predict what will happen before it happens, so I am ready for what comes next in the game.”

My response, “So Michael, is that ability to observe and predict what will happen before it happens a talent or ability?”

“OH YEAH!!!!!”, he answered with true delight in his voice. And he was on his way to developing a greater understanding of his talents.

During a seminar I asked an attendee about his talents and he responded with sadness, “That is the ruin of my life, I don’t have any talents.” Yet with further questioning he spotted a talent that he never realized was a talent; at the point of realization he gave such a deep sigh of recognition and relief that I thought he was going to suck all the oxygen out of the room. He wrote me several weeks later, how his discovering this talent helped him pursue something that he never thought about doing previously.

With the FoB consultation, YOU will discover, or further recognize the talents that you have, and for so many that is a great realization and relief.

The Foundations of Brilliance program is a private and confidential consultation that will help you decide on the best educational and career path for you. First we will help you discover your Three Key Success Factors. Then we help you align these factors with your goals to determine the path best suited for you. In the third part of the program we will assist you in developing a plan to reach the goals you have set for yourself. Additional consulting is always available as needed and wanted.

Is there someone you know that can benefit from the Foundations of Brilliance Career Consultation?
